Missions
As a church we feel called to take part in the Mission of God. We want to show all people a picture of the love that Jesus has shown us and offers to the entire world. We recognize this calls us to be on mission in Gatesville, across Texas, and around the world.
Mission Committee
Our church's mission efforts are led by a group of church members on our mission committee. This group leads our various mission efforts locally, regionally, and internationally.
Local Mission
One of the ways we seek to bring the Kingdom of God to Gatesville is through our cooperatation in the Gatesville Care Center, a local collaborative ministry which serves approximately 400 families per month by distributing food, clothes, and other necessities. The Care Center, located at 105 N. 7th St, is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:00 AM-3:00 PM. Members of FBCG volunteer on the third Wednesday of each month, and we would love for you to join us.
Regional Mission
We are involved in a variety of mission efforts in Texas. Each year we "adopt" Cabin #9 of the Texas Baptist Children's Home to provide Christmas gifts for the children who live there and their guardians. We also participate in KidsHeart, an annual mission partnership with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and Buckner Baptist Benevolences seeking to alleviate the poverty in seven of the poorest counties in our country in the Rio Grande Valley. In years past we have taken week long trips partnering with churches in the region to repair/build houses and do outreach into the community. In addition to these regular activities, we also stand ready to asist with hurricane disaster relief and other crises that might arise in Texas.
International Mission
Members of FBCG have been on mission in Mexico, South Africa, Niger, Honduras, and other places around the world, and we seek to be a people sensitive to God's call to reach the ends of the Earth with the gospel. We seek to be vessels of love, peace, and hope around the world, and desire to partner with long term ministries to fulfill this call. We know sometimes this means we are called to travel to those places and other times it means we are called to support in other ways. Some of the ways in which we are involved in international mission throughout the year are below. Click on each for more information.
Mission Partnerships
We are united with other like-minded churches and parachurch organizations through the Global Connection Partnership Network, Baptist General Convention of Texas, Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, North American Mission Board, and International Mission Board.
